Walker High School is proud to have three very qualified individuals coordinating our athletic training facility. Bob White, ATC, a graduate of Samford University, came to our system from an athletic training position at HealthSouth in Birmingham. He has been with the program since 1990. We are one of the few school systems who employ a full time certified athletic trainer and that alone speaks highly of our school programs. Jack Lamon has been a volunteer with our program since 1971. He received his training as a Navy Corpsman with service in Vietnam. The newest member to the program is Amanda Bradshaw. She is a 2001 graduate of Walker High School. Amanda graduated from the University of West Alabama in 2005 with a BS in Athletic Training. She is a certified athletic trainer with Champion Sports Medicine assisting Bob White with football and girls’ athletics. Typically, the program has 7-10 student aides with many going on to pursue a related medical field.
The athletic training facility was built in 1996 and is one of the nicest high school facilities in the state. Southern Orthopedics and Champion Sports Medicine send a yearly stipend to assist with medical supplies and equipment. The facility also is proud to have the support of many local physicians who help with the yearly athletic physicals and game day assistance. The building is dedicated to Jack Lamon, who is also a member of the Walker High School Hall of Fame.
